Attention Faculty and Staff Apple announced today that it would recall 1.4 million laptop batteries that were manufactured by Sony. This follows on the coat-tails of Dell computer's recent recall of 4.1 million laptop batteries also manufactured by Sony.Affected batteries may overheat and cause burns or start a fire if they are not replaced. Following is information about how to get a replacement battery for Dell or Apple laptops. Dell Visit https://www.dellbatteryprogram.com/ and follow the instructions. Note: In our last communication about this issue, we were working with Dell to get a quantity of batteries to make it easier to exchange them. Bulk field replacements are being issued to the military, police, healthcare patient services and critical services first. It would be a few weeks before Depaul could receive a bulk battery shipment. Due to this, Information Services now recommends that customers work with Dell directly to replace affected batteries as soon as possible.
