Information Services and Procurement Services strongly suggest buying within our set standards for the maximum level of usability and the highest level of support. If you are insistent on purchasing a Mac for use here at DePaul University you should familiarize yourself with the list of features that are not available to Mac users, and the limitations of the support that you will receive for any issues.

HOW TO PURCHASE A COMPUTER

To purchase a new machine, follow the steps below:

  1. Obtain a price quote for your desired machine(s). This can be done one of two ways.
    • By obtaining a Dell Premier website login by e-mailing Derek Moon or by calling x2-8542.
    • By communicating your desired PC specifications directly to Derek Moon or Natalie Max

  2. Once a quote has been obtained, you or your budget manager must open a requisition through Peoplesoft. Please reference the e-quote number in the requisition comments.

  3. Once your order is approved, a purchase order is generated. The buyer then places the order and creates the IS install ticket.

  4. Once the machines arrive on campus IS will send an email to schedule a time for your install. If you do not respond to this email, IS will assume that you are not ready for installation!

The entire process takes around 10-14 business days, depending on product availability and IS depot workload.

HOW TO LEASE A COMPUTER

The PC Leasing Program was designed as a way to help departments with limited budget dollars obtain new computer equipment.

A standard lease is 36 month or a 3-year commitment.  Departments are encouraged to select equipment from our Preferred Suppliers, Dell and Apple.  Changes to the standard configuration can be accommodated.

Chargebacks will be processed on a monthly basis.

Advantages of Leasing

  • Payments are spread out over a 36 month period
  • Updated computer equipment every three years
  • Lease initiation and paperwork resides in Procurement
  • Supported by Information Services
  • Asset Disposal responsibilities lie with the leasing agent and NOT with DePaul University

Disadvantages of Leasing

  • More expensive than purchasing due to lease rate factor and associated fees
